Conducted in 2009, this Masterclass and Pubic Seminar featured the renowned Kyle Balda, a former directing animator at Pixar Animation Studios and Phat Phuong, the current Set Dressing Lead at Pixar.
Kyle Balda possesses 15 years of accumulated professional experience in the field of feature animation. He is most notably recognized for his collaboration work with Pixar Animation studios and Industrial Light & Magic (ILM). He started his training with Lucas Arts and Pacific Data Images before he joined the crew of Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) to participate in films such as The Flinstones, The Mask, Mars Attack and Jumanji. After animating on one of Peter Jackson’s film in New Zealand, Balda returned to California to work at Pixar as an animator on A Bug’s life and Monsters, Inc. and as directing animator of Toy Story 2. Recent years saw Balda making waves in the animation industry through animation workshops at film schools and production studios around the world and as animation director and consultant at a number of European and Asian schools.
Based in San Francisco, USA, Phat Phuong’s expertise lies in the areas of modeling, set dressing and Previs. He has been with Pixar for the past 10 years and his credits include many great successes such as Ratatouille, Presto, Monsters, Inc., Finding Nemo, The Incredibles and Cars. Phat Phuong is the Set Dressing Lead for Toy Story 3 at Pixar Animation Studios and his contributions were mainly focused on the film environment creations.
