Ma Wing Shing, the famous millionaire comic illustrator and entrepreneur from Hongkong (among his famous works if Tian Xia or Pedang Setiawan, the Malay version of which sold some 50,000 copies in a week in Malaysia) gave a seminar at The One Academy in Kuala Lumpur recently.

The visit represents the academy's philosophy - the job of training students to become masters in their respective fields has to be carries out by he masters themselves.

The practice has been carried out by the academy over the years and it has proved to be successful. The academy has been producing talented graduates this way.

During the seminar, students gained an insight into the world of art and comic illustration. Ma also shared with the students the secret of how an artist can become a billionaire at a young age.

The academy also managed to sign a contract with Ma's publishing house to produce comics for them.

Under the guidance of Principal Tatsun Hoi, the group of illustrators, consisting mainly of students and graduates of the academy, will produce bi-monthly world-class comics.

Future plans include producing online games and animation features to be distributed to the world market. One of the goals for the venture is to promote Malaysia talents.

The One Academy offers majors in Multimedia Design, Digital Animation, Advertising and Graphic Design, Illustration and Comics and Interior Design.

Students can opt for careers in producing online games, movie production, and other digital careers.

Illustration students from the academy are also able to contribute to the nation's growth in new media such as the Internet, as the course covers not only the precise artistic skills needed but includes the exploration of various media such as digital illustration.
