Having full confidence in the international creative
standards of The One Academy, top stars Zhao Wei from
China, Karen Mok from Hong Kong, Shu Qi from Taiwan
and Seoung-Heon Song from Korea have entrusted the institute
to come up with 10 lots of artworks to promote their
action blockbuster,
So Close.
The artworks - including pieces done in acrylic, charcoal,
pencil and mixed media - feature individual portraits
of the international film stars as well as posters of
the movie itself. Impressed by the creative talents
of The One Academy artists, director Corey Yuen and
the stars personally autographed the original pieces
on Sept 3 and 4 in a ceremony in Genting Highlands to
show their appreciation.
As one of the most awaited action flicks in 2002,
So Close tells the tale of three tough women who take
on a powerful pair of computer moguls, the Hong Kong
police and each other. The film is directed by Yuen,
whose claim to fame was establishing Dato' Michelle
Yeoh's reputation as an action star in Yes, Madam and
Jet Li in Fong Sai Yuk.
"The One Academy believes in giving its students
and lecturers multi-angled industry exposure and feel
the pulse of the current market development in the creative
field locally and globally," says Tan Chin Wee,
the institute's Marketing and Business Development Manager.
"This event is yet another example of The One
Academy's active and continuous involvement in helping
the growth of the creative industry," he adds.
"It has been in the forefront of the industry since
its inception in 1991, including collaborating in various
ways with partners for movie and animated film promotions
as well as community projects."
