Bram Lee Chin Horng, a digital animation graduate of The One Academy has beaten contenders from all over world and garnered the 3rd Annual International CG Excellence Award under the student category with his conceptual painting Irasshaimase, which means ‘welcome’ in Japanese. The award earned him a certificate and an original CD of ZBrush 3, powerful software used for digital sculpting. Despite his age of 20, Bram Lee Chin Horng is already a rising star in the fields of comic, illustration and animation. He has won a number of local and international awards since his talent was noticed back in year 2003. Yet, the down-to-earth artist continues to do his best in what he’s passionate about. The cartoon throws up a question of what would happen if the characters from anime (which refers to Japanese cartoon) come into the world of Western cartoon. “I think something interesting will probably happen because the two cartoons emphasize on totally different themes and have their own distinctive ways of story-telling,” says Bram behind the idea of Irasshaimase. The CG Excellence Award was held in conjunction with the CG Overdrive event in Singapore from 17 to 20 of June 2008. It is one of Asia’s largest computer graphics (CG) events anchored by a knowledge-centric conference that aims to arm Asian CG talents with deeper expertise.
