Longing for home

Panoramic photograph is unique because it able to capture images that is elongated. Therefore, I came out with an idea having two contrast locations in this panoramic photograph using the advantages of panoramic technique. The concept of my photograph is to show that the people who leave their hometown is feeling homesick and missing the warm hearted neighbourhood in the village. Compare to the village, people are more selfish and cool in the urban. Most of them are not helpful and friendly.

In this photograph, I’ve used different models in the background to portray different characters in different location. In the village side, having neighbourhood who is friendly and kind while in the urban side, there are an arrogant shopping girl and busy working man who ignore the people around them. There is also a main character that represents the people who leave their hometown to work and wish to go home.

For the background of the panoramic photograph, I actually changed the angle of the location to make it more realistic compare to the first photograph I shoot. The angle is better than the first photograph as the village side showing wooden house and tress while the urban showing tall buildings and vehicles. It’s difficult to direct the model where to stand because the place is too wide and the model is too small. Therefore, to make the main character more outstanding, I’ve shoot only half body so that he is viewable.
