The golden cow was lighted in a way to brandish its reflective gold surface. Emphasizing the contours through how light reflects the tones and shadow. The surrounding atmosphere is illuminated in a golden-yellow effect to mellow the warmth of the cow, as if it is radiating warmth and luxury. The entire piece was done with a tent and two light sources, one with a soft box 45 degrees facing downwards towards the object while the other on the adjacent side with back lighting.

Houdini wouldn’t be able to do this, not even with photoshop! The shadow which was cast on the ground gave an illusion of which the glass itself is floating, where as no strings or photoshop was manipulated for such effects. The piece was done in the same manner as “Odd”.
Odd
Space Odyssey was the idea for this piece. The slight illumination on the sides of the vase emulates how the sun rises from the shadows behind the Earth; emphasizing a moment of grandeur. The piece was done with a black background while the soft box was placed exactly behind the black background, allowing only the light source from the sides of the black background penetrating through, therefore resulting in a silhouette effect.
