Outstanding graduates of Batch 88 and 91 celebrate their completion of creative studies at the Sunway Lagoon Resort Hotel & SPA Grand Ballroom. Clad in their mortar boards and gowns, they stride across the stage to receive their academic certificates with pride and honor as a graduate of one of Asia’s top art & design institution. Presenting the certificates was Principal of The One Academy, Tatsun Hoi.
The commemoration night included an award presentation to the year’s Dean’s List of Scholar- Chong Hsu Cherng of graduation batch 91 of 2011. Chong graduated in Diploma in Multimedia Design as a top achiever for fulfilling the requirements of academic excellence. He was talented in designing online weblog skins, layouts and template designs and contributed his skill as a Technical Lead in programming and scripting for his graduating committee in interactive website and showreel. Chong was an active participant of various creative competitions such as the Crowbar Award or the Astro Next Gen Contentpreneur. His future plans involve advancing himself in a rewarding career of Multimedia Design such as exploring the areas of digital and non-digital mediums and creating an advanced interactive video. His advice to the students was, “Never restrict yourselves and don’t stop trying just because it is hard or tough.”
The award ceremony also rewarded creative students who have submitted their most excellent work for The One Academy Students Creative Award (TOASCA) the TOASCA Award grew wider with an objective to seek out potential talents among the student body to showcase students’ outstanding talents & creative thinking skills. With this, increases students work by standards and produces high-flying results to meet industry’s requirements. To sustain this practice, Principal Tatsun Hoi incorporated the practice of Idea Culture (No Idea No Talk) to heighten students’ idea-thinking through practical coaching approach, practical concept and practical creativity. With this nurturing, the industries have proclaimed that The One Academy students are creative individuals who have rose beyond their creativity to pursue the challenging creative industry. Thus, as a result for living by the philosophy of ‘Just World Class Results’, students were rewarded extravagant cash prize of RM1000 for category Best Craft and trophies of Gold, Silver and Bronze awards.
Another commemoration was followed by an award-acknowledgement to prominent Advertising & Graphic Design graduates from advertising agency, McCann Erickson Kuala Lumpur- Art Director, Azlaili Yunus (Batch 58) and Graphic Designer, Chu Yin Shan (Batch 75). The award recognition was to acknowledge their recent industry achievement of ‘Young Creative Award’ bestowed at the Malaysia’s most prestigious advertising award, the Kancil Awards for their outstanding talent and creativity in the advertising field. Both graduates expressed with gratitude on their learning experience; previously Yunus as a Student President developed courage and Chu as a Deputy Public Relations who learned through participating creative competitions.
