Winning Golds, Silver and Bronzes AGAIN at Malaysia's Biggest Advertising Awards!

With a whopping total of 34 awards, it is now FIVE years consecutively that The One Academy students have been winning again, seizing the throne as the biggest Student Kancil Award winners.

The One Academy Advertising & Graphic Design students who rose to the occasion with bolder ideas for creating a promotional campaign for the The Star Newspaper as a mock client; leading them to seize a collective total of 7 Student Kancil Awards; 2 Golds, 1 silver, 3 Bronzes and 1 Merit. Their brilliant ideas this year has attracted the renowned panel of judges with Jury Chairman Gavin Simpson of Ogilvy & Mather Malaysia and the Main Jury which consist of the pro-players such as Huang Ean Hwa of McCann-Erickson, Liew Sanyen of IF Isobar, Sa'ad Hussein of Creative Juice-Sil and more.

'Star Bridge' by Lee Jia Chang, Low Han Hoe and William Siah Wei Qian became the Gold winner with their tech-savvy concept of mobile application which combines the usage of augmented reality (AR) and QR codes that downloads easily from an Application Store or Android Market to provide a different reading experience, hence, their tagline 'Reading like never before'.

Another Gold winner was nabbed by trio, Chok Yi Ning, Krystine Chia and Kimberley Lee who are behind the project 'Real News'. With a concrete objective to promote reading, this group aimed to tackle the issue by using attention-grabbing relevant stories to remind youths on the importance of news.

The Silver award was won by the title 'Read and Sing the News' with members Low Koon Chin, Low Jun Hoong, Ng Sae Karand Chong Chin Yau. The objective of the concept was to encourage youth age 14 to 15 years old to read The Star regularly. A contest was to be held for participants to submit the best music video that contains lyrics which can be retrieve and gather from The Star newspaper.

Three Bronze awards went to group Lee Xin Yi, Thoo Sueen and Lai Siang Yeow of 'Stop There And Read', another campaign to promote reading as a healthy practice; followed by 'Star Wrap' by Chen Mun Hong, Ooi Lay Min and Chua Kim Hai with an aim to create talkability using a guerrilla advertising tactic: wrapping The Star newspaper around humans, cars, buildings, etc. to portray that The Star has wide coverage in news and happenings. Finally, 'The Newspaper Star' by How Jiun Yan, Lee Wai Yin and Tan Chee Ho submitted their idea which has a penetrating objective to engage youths to read The Star, with an idea to set up an augmented reality interactive platform incorporating a special newspaper navigation pad.

A merit was awarded to Alvin Tan, Jeff Foo and Tan Teck Giat for their live ambient advertising strategy that was so brilliantly put together, entitled ‘Star Vivacious’. On top of the challenging experience, other than the Student Kancil Awards, The One Academy Advertising & Graphic Design graduates, Chu Yin Shan and Azlaili Yunus from McCann-Erickson advertising agency, won the Young Creative Award title - an industry award. Clearly, this is the proven-result of The One Academy's constant emphasis in industry-driven learning approach when educating the students and as a high-flying educator that upholds the 'Masters Train Masters' coaching philosophy through world class sharing by creative professionals in the industry.
